OKAY, Y'ALL ALREADY KNOW BECKY AND I ARE TIGHT, RIGHT? SO OF COURSE, AFTER I MET HER, I HAD TO READ HER OTHER PUBLISHED BOOK. It only seemed logical. Plus, Abigail recommended it to me in some snail mail and of course I can't let THE Abigail down.

The Upside of Unrequited is about a girl who has always had a crush on someone from afar (26 crushes total) but she's never tried to fulfill those crushes due to her fear of rejection. When Molly's twin sister, Cassie, gets her first girlfriend and is head over heels, Molly suddenly feels distant from Cassie. Cassie tries to set Molly up with her girlfriend's best friend in hopes of saving their bond as sisters but Molly has someone else in mind...

(lol I know. I'm horrible at giving book descriptions bUT JUST STAY WITH ME HERE.)

Plot: 9/10

Overall: supah cute. squeal worthy

One thing I'd love to know is HOW ON EARTH IS BECKY ABLE TO MAKE ME FEEL SO ATTACHED TO HER CHARACTERS IN LESS THAN 100 PAGES?? She makes them feel so real without overuse of details! So, of course, my favorite thing about this book would be the characters.

Molly was a mashed up version of Simon and Leah. Like, if they had a love child (though, not possible) she would be theirs.

This book is in the same universe as Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and it's definitely not Simon... But I thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably more than Leah on the Offbeat (I liked that book a lot because of all the Simon + Blue moments, hehe.) I have an undying love for Becky's writing so reading anything by her is a breath of fresh air.

This book contained MAJOR sister/sibling representation. If anyone was looking for a cute read about family relationship, this would be your book. I find that it's really important to have books that do focus on the family aspect of characters because THAT'S REAL LIFE, YO. PEOPLE ACTUALLY HAVE FAMILIES. YEP, I KNOW. I'M JUST AS SHOCKED. But yeah, this book was more about Molly's relationship with her sister than it was about the rooooooomance. (Even though there was some super cute romance- Hang on, you'll see.)

I do wish it focused/added more detail to Molly's anxiety. I mean, Molly does stress and worry about certain things and it did include her taking medication for it but I felt that the topic was brushed off a bit if you know what I mean?

Overall, it wasn't groundbreaking but it was still super enjoyable and gets you into one of those feel good moods.

TALK TO ME!

SHOULD I DO A BOOK CHAT ABOUT LEAH ON THE OFFBEAT? Do you think family representation in books is important? WHY? Do you have a sibling (or siblings) you are super close to? I DO! Have you ever felt like a late bloomer? BECAUSE SAME. What are some books you've read that aren't super "omg-this-just-changed-my-entire-existence" but really enjoyable and just good to read? Let me know! :)

Caution warning: semi-detailed discussions about sex, minor swearing, and teenage drinking (which was pretty unnecessary in my opinion)

Before I start, I just have to gush over how amazing the month of June was. First of all, it was #pridemonth so everywhere I went was filled with rainbows and sparkles and so much HAPPINESS. My heart felt so full. <3 And not to mention that I went to TWO concerts within THREE days. It was insane but so, so, soooo wonderful. (I touched Dan Reynolds' bicep. It was very soft. I'm talking baby butt soft, my dude.)

I also started a super-duper-top-secret internship (*wiggles eyebrows*) and I got accepted into my dream school! Which feels completely surreal. I'm a little afraid to talk about it a lot because I don't want to jinx anything, but my sister keeps telling me to give in to the excitement, so...

And on top of all that... I GOT TO MEET SIMON'S MAMA.

In case you haven't already read the posts (here and here) where I rave about the book Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and movie, Love, Simon, then you must know that Becky Albertalli is one of my favorite authors... So, meeting her was definitely a dream.

The thing is, I had no idea she was coming here. I posted clips from the movie on my instagram story one night and a friend responded to it, saying she had the opportunity to meet Becky and watch the movie with her, and I was like: wut how where why was i not invited???

Apparently, it was an event held at a library not even that far from me. So, on the verge of tears, I did some research (aka stalking) and found out that she was having a talk and book signing at another library!

lol of course I went.

All in all, life has been really good, my friend.

TALK TO ME!

What is something good that has happened to you so far? DO YOU HAVE ANY BIG SUMMER PLANS? Do you have any small summer plans? What is something you've always wanted to do? I found some super cute cups and things at target that would make the perfect lemonade stand! I've always wanted to do something like that. (I even have a recipe for lavender lemonade (very yummy) + I made some really good oatmeal cookies the other night.)

p.s. IT'S CAMP NANO AGAIN! I absolutely forgot (*facepalm*) and I already signed up for it. I actually hit a huge writing slump and I'm having a hard time getting out of it... But maybe if I try to participate in Camp NaNo, I'll be able to beat it. How about you? Are you participating? What is your current WIP?

I read Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda back in December. I would have read it sooner but every time I went to Barnes and Noble, it wasn't there! I mean, I could have gotten it online but with so many books in my "tbr" pile, I try to avoid going out of my way to buy another book.

But it was so worth the wait.

So, I don't know if you already know this but I really flipping LOVE this book.

I take back every single word I just said.
