My NaNoWriMo proposal

As you may or may not know... I am quite charming. I can smooth, brah (in an awkward, bad timing kind of way). Alright, maybe my ego is a little high at the moment. But you all must be curious about the title of this post. Right?

When I had the opportunity to acknowledge the fact that I could, indeed, participate in this year's NaNoWriMo, I decided to jump on it! Like a cat and it's prey- just snatchin' up that moment, you know? So, I did what any Good Samaritan would do.

I proposed to Rose using Call Me Maybe lyrics.

Pretty creative, am I right? You're probably guessing she said yes, or well, I did. But with that said... I am doing (or trying to do) NaNoWriMo 2016.

In case you don't know what NaNoWriMo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. The rest is pretty self explanatory, but you're supposed to try and achieve the goal of 50,000 words written in the month of November. Why, you ask? Well, allow me to fill you in on all the deets.

- If you haven't read this post, my writing buddy, Rose, and I are working on a series together. So, we decided to participate with on our already kick-started series, The Visionaries

- I tried NaNo in 2014, completely wung the whole thing. Yeah... Not the best decision. Let's just say, I barely lasted a week.

- Now I'm back and ready to type my booty off!

- I feel like I have evolved as a writer over the years. I took writing classes and joined a writing group to become a better writer. But it was all bad timing. I wasn't ready to be a writer, despite how badly I wanted to be. Now that I'm ready, I feel like I can really accomplish something.

- These books aren't going to write themselves so why not get a jump start and use NaNoWriMo as an excuse to get 'er done.

- I used to be a panster. Writing a book for me meant writing it and just making up everything as I go. Now, I've entered the "Plan Everything To the Core" fan base. Hey, how you doin'? And now, I don't know if I could ever go back to being a panster.

With that said... Are you doing NaNoWriMo? If so, I wish you all the best of luck. Have you participated before? If so, please don't hesitate in sharing some friendly advice with me. Are you a panster or a planner? Any tips for a newly obsessive compulsive planner?

Have a lovely week, my friends. <3

p.s. does anyone subscribe to my posts by email? It never occurred to me that some of you may have. I'm not sure how I feel about that considering, well... Let's just say I do not like to reflect upon some of my written works on here. Nothing personal, I'm just human... And a tad bit curious.

p.p.s. Rose bribed me with pizza into making the decision to partake in NaNo. If you ever want something done, just talk to Rosie. She knows what's up.

just a friendly reminder

you are awesome
you are beautiful
you are amazing;
just as you are
nobody can compare
to the exquisite soul
that is within you
you are loved
you are wanted
you matter.
do not forget to feed and water yourself
just like a plant; you need to grow.
live your life to the fullest
help others
and be spectacular.

I'm writing a book! | The BookKaR

Kenzie is writing a book? Why on earth has she not told us about this? Why have we not read it yet? Where is this book? Why am I not holding it?

Well, I'm so glad you asked. ;) And I intend to answer these questions as thoroughly as possible. Yes, I am writing a book. And the reason why I have not told you yet is because I have been working on it non-stop. But I haven't done it alone.

This is merely a collaboration between two girls who have known each other forever and decided that it was about time to write this darn book. Which, actually, is already finished. The first draft is, anyways.

When did this start?

It was last December when Rosie came to me and was all like: "Yo, you wanna write a book together?"
And then there was me, who had been wanting to ask the same question! So, with that I replied: "Brah, let's do it."
Those weren't our exact words, but that pretty much sums it up. And while I was dusting off icky cobwebs from bookshelves and fireplace mantels, we chatted about what the genre of our new book and if it was going to be a series.

We decided on a mixture of a dystopian, romantic, fantasy, realistic YA book.

And yes, it is indeed a series.

What is this book about? What is it called?

The Visionaires is about three main characters; Gen, Maria, and Noah, who befriend each other and go on a mission for various reasons all joined by the same reason: Gen's sister is kidnapped.

I don't want to give too much away but it's really awesome and I'm in love with all the characters and there's a ton of romance and sarcasm, and Noah is my bae.

When can I read it?

Shortly! But in the meantime, we have published two sneak peeks that are ready for reading!

How can I read these sneak peeks?

I'm glad you are as eager about this as I am. ;) To read our sneak peeks, all you gotta do is sign up for our newsletter and we shall send them to you ASAP.

Hang on, I have one more question...

Okay. Take your time.

What is 'The Bookkar'?

The BookKaR is defined as a collaboration between Rosie and I. Along with it being our website and writing community, where we plan to explore the wonders of writing and fangirl about our book series. We are also working on an eBook for our readers. For more updates, just sign up for our newsletter here

I'm so excited about this, and I cannot wait for you all to be introduced to The Visionaries. Plus, we have a really awesome Pinterest board for our collaboration. You should totally check it out.

Gosh, why on earth haven't we done this sooner, Rosie?
